Maseru – Vodacom Premier League giants Bantu say they will not show Butha-Buthe Warriors any mercy when the sides meet in a David against Goliath clash at Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) grounds on Sunday.

‘A Matšo Matebele’ are riding high following back-to-back wins to begin their season and have made the perfect start to life under new coach James Madidilane.

Bantu are second in the premiership, only trailing leaders Kick4Life on goal difference.

Warriors, on the other hand, are rooted to the basement after two losses, and speaking yesterday, Bantu communications and marketing manager Motlatsi Mofokeng said while they “feel sorry” for the premier league newboys they will not be donating any points to them.

Mofokeng said Bantu are looking to revive their “fear factor” after last season’s shambolic league campaign in which the Mafeteng side finished seventh.

For example, last season Bantu lost four of their 13 home games in the league and won just five.

In comparison, Bantu were undefeated at home during the 2014/15 season winning 10 of their 13 matches. Similarly, Bantu lost just once at home in their 2013/14 title-winning season. In both seasons, ‘A Matšo Matebele’ boasted the best home record in the league.

“After their defeat last week you have to feel sorry for them but there is nothing we can do, we also need three points,” Mofokeng told thepost.

“I think they are meeting us at the wrong time when we are trying to correct all the wrongs we did last season and bring back that fear. We had a terrible (2015/16) season, it’s no secret, and we are looking to make that a thing of the past.”

Mofokeng added that while Bantu have kept tabs on Kick4Life’s fine start, they are not putting themselves under pressure to dethrone Leslie Notši’s charges at the top of the premier league log.

With Kick4Life facing a tricky trip to Sundawana on Sunday, Bantu could go top with a win over Warriors.

However, Mofokeng said they are not overlooking their opponents.

“We are taking it one game at a time and we are going to give (Warriors) the respect they deserve. A wounded lion is more dangerous,” he said.

“Our aim is not to be on top of the log (right now). It’s one game at a time, we don’t want to put pressure on ourselves.”

Another intriguing game this weekend takes place in Quthing where Liphakoe will be looking to continue their promising start to the season when they host title hopefuls Matlama on Saturday.

Liphakoe have a perfect record after two games while ‘Tse Putsoa’ will be looking to make a statement on their title credentials in what could be a pulsating match-up.

Sunday will then see a traditional derby between two giants enjoying contrasting fortunes when champions Lioli host winless Linare at Setsoto Stadium.
