MASERU – A BUSINESSMAN of Filipino origin who runs a printing company in Maseru was hijacked by armed gunmen between 6 and 7pm on Tuesday.
The incident happened in the Maseru West industrial area.
Police spokesman Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli confirmed the incident shortly before going to print last night.
He said no arrests have been made so far but investigations were already in progress.

A source told thepost yesterday that the businessman was travelling with one of his employees who was immediately shoved out of the vehicle when the hijacking occurred.
The source said the hijackers were travelling in a black Honda Fit car.
The hijackers drove off with the victim and dumped him at Thibella cemetery.
He was beaten with a hard object on the head, the source said.
The businessman was later admitted at one local hospital where he was treated as an out- patient.

Supt Mopeli said the police’s preliminary investigations had revealed that the gun-wielding robbers blocked the road and pointed guns at the businessman and his employee.
He said the employee was robbed of M300 which was found in his wallet.
Supt Mopeli said it was not yet known what property was taken from the businessman because “he cannot talk properly to give an account of what happened”.
Supt Mopeli said the victim sustained some wounds on the head after the attack.

He said the businessman was still reeling from shock following the incident.
He said no damage was made to the car despite the fact that the vehicle’s number plate was ripped off.
Supt Mopeli appealed to the public to give information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
