MASERU – ECONET Telecom Lesotho (ETL) extended a helping a hand to ‘Malibuseng Children’s home when it donated clothes and food to the orphanage last week.
The donation was done through the company’s Customer Services department to celebrate the New Year. ETL’s General Manager: Customer Services, Mpine Tente, said the idea to give to ‘Malibuseng Children’s home was inspired by suggestions from people who work at the Call Centre which falls under the Customer Service department.
She said the people made contributions to buy the food and clothes.
“This is rare as most of the times donations are made from the resources of the company. I am impressed with the enthusiasm and goodwill that this young team has,” Tente said.
Speaking at the same event Limpho Rathobei, one of the Call Centre agents, said they wanted to help the children celebrate the festive season. Rathobei said they understood that while other people were enjoying the festive season there were less fortunate ones who are struggling. “This is the time of the year when families and friends spend time together so, as a team, we remembered that there are children out there who have no one but each other to spend time with and decided to put this philanthropic initiative in motion” said Rathobei.
Joyce Mohale, the orphanage’s caretaker, thanked the ETL team for their generous gesture. She said the home was founded by the Rats’olo family which opened its doors to orphans who are brought to them from all walks of life by individuals and the police.
“We cannot express our gratitude enough, now the children will sleep safely with all the windows closed, thank you ETL” Mohale said. Apart from giving clothes and groceries the ETL team also helped fix broken windows, clean up the garden and entertained the children.
This is the second time the same orphanage has benefited from ETL.
ETL’s Customer Services department is made up of the Call Centre, Public Relations, Quality Assurance and Activations.
