MASERU-ECONET Telecom Lesotho’s customers will now have the luxury of browsing the internet and work from home or study online, without worrying they will run out of data.
That is because of a new data bundle that offers customers unlimited access to the internet.
Customers will have the chance to subscribe for unlimited data packages through an asymmetrical digital subscriber line also known as ADSL technology.
This will enable endless browsing and learning on the internet, access to emails and staying entertained for a full month without fear of running out of data and incurring extra costs on top-up data bundles in the middle of the month.
Econet’s data product manager, Itumeleng Mpasi, said the move to offer unlimited data at home and offices was a way of meeting customers half-way especially now that they are being forced to work from home while home-schooling their children.
Mpasi said that when other countries started reporting confirmed cases of Covid-19 and introduced measures that were intended to flatten the virus spread curve, Lesotho had no choice but to oblige and announced a country-wide lockdown.
“It was during that time when we saw how distressed business owners and families were in keeping their businesses afloat and saving their employees’ jobs by opening virtual offices which require unlimited access to data,” Mpasi said.
“Now, that’s when we had to step in, be part of a solution and introduced packages with unrestricted access to data, which they can afford and manage,” she said.
Econet first introduced 24-months unlimited data packages in November 2019.
Customers who live around Maseru where there is full Econet fibre coverage such as Lesia, Thetsane East, Thetsane West, Masowe 1, 2, 3, 4, Maseru East, Maseru West, Florida, Arrival Centre, White City, Ha-Hoohlo, Moshoeshoe II, Stadium area, Sea Point, Hillsview, Mabote and Khubetsoana have been enjoying non-stop browsing without top-up worries.
Mpasi said the uptake of the unlimited packages in these areas exposed a market of data hungry customers hence the expansion of the same service to areas with ADSL coverage.
Distinct to unlimited data contracts which are available on fibre technology in the mentioned Maseru district areas, the newly introduced unlimited 24 months data contracts offered on ADSL are available country-wide where Econet has wired copper coverage.
The unlimited data is bundled with up to 15 hours of non-stop talking, Econet to Econet airtime minutes loaded on the first day of each month to the corresponding landline.
Users will also enjoy the privilege of unlimited Econet to Econet calls on Saturdays and Sundays at no extra charge.
To get connected, customers can call 6140 at no cost or send a WhatsApp message to +266 66100100.
