MASERU – STANDARD Lesotho Bank has dished out more than M100 000 to some of its clients who opened new accounts with the bank between May and August this year.
’Marethabile Thamae won the first prize worth M100 000 while Tlale Tsetsane received the second prize of M30 000.
The competition was for people who opened Silver Account, Prestige Account and Private accounts with the bank.
Only people who earn M3 000 and above were eligible to enter the competition, said Bright Pita, Head of Sales at Standard Lesotho Bank.

Pita said 1 200 people participated in the competition. Out of these, eight were selected to take part in the draw for the M100 000 and M30 000 cash prizes.
Thamae, who is a single mother of two, described the prize as a “blessing”.
“I did not believe that I could make it in this kind of big campaigns and I doubted if I could be nominated the winner,” she said.

Thanks to the cash prize, Thamae can now pursue her longtime dream to build houses for her children.
The other winner, Tsetsane, said he had been a client of the bank “for a long time” but decided to change the status of his account in July. The decision has now changed his life.
“Even now I was supposed to be at work but I decided to come here. I told myself that even if I could be late, I wanted to take part in the draw,” Tsetsane said.

Before the competition, Tsetsane had been planning to make small savings so that he could buy himself a car “but now I feel like my dream has come true”.
Before the announcement of the winners, Tsetsane was not sure he could win.
“But there was a little hope that I might be the winner,” he said.

He urged people to open accounts with the bank, commending it for providing high quality services adding the bank “takes care of its customers”.
“I plead with people to participate in this kind of competition because you do not know what the future has in store for you,” Tsetsane said.

Standard Lesotho Bank Chief Executive Officer, Mpho Vumbukani, said the competition was aimed at thanking the bank’s clients for their support.
“Through this campaign, we are showing appreciation to our customers who have been supporting us,” Vumbukani said.
