Mahaletere’s misery

Published

on

So Mahaletere is battling to save his political career. This time he is not scheming or plotting but just pleading as Ntoi Rapapa breathes down his neck.

Instead of welcoming Rapapa’s challenge as a sign of vibrant democracy within the party, Mahaletere says “the coming elections of the national executive committee could cause conflicts and factionalism in the party”.

For a seasoned politician like Mahaletere, this is a weird way of reasoning and trying to avoid a contest.

The idea that a challenge to a party leader will cause conflicts and factionalism is ridiculous. That this kind of logic comes from someone of his stature is bizarre.

It shows that he is out of touch with the people who have already shown that they want him out. But Muckraker is not surprised because Mahaletere comes from the archaic and discredited congress politics that insulates party leaders from competition.

It is because of that penchant for deifying leaders that the congress movement has so many dunderheads around.

While he has been busy growing white hair the party has been transforming right under his nose. It’s about time he hits the road anyway. He has been around for too long and stopped being effective some ages ago.

While he is on his way out he should stop with the pathetic fearmongering.

There is nothing wrong with conflicts and factionalism in a political party.

Any party that doesn’t have those is either dead or just a cult full of zombies incapable of independent thoughts or decisions.

The factionalism and conflicts he fears are already festering in the party.

They are also in churches, families and grocery clubs.

And they are why Mahaletere left the DC to form the AD.

At least he now knows how Size Two felt when he was busy stoking fires and scheming in the DC. Now he has to swallow his own medicine. Koenya Mahaletere, koenya!
