MASERU – FORMER Matekane Group of Companies (MGC) executive director, Toloane Matekane, is launching a mobile phone factory tomorrow.
Matekane, now leading M&P Holdings, is one of the directors at its subsidiary Diamond Stone.
Diamond Stone is a start-up mobile phone manufacturer that has a vision to be one of Africa’s leading mobile phone makers.

A marketing manager at Diamond Stone, Tšeliso Malelu, said with the launch they will help fight unemployment especially among the youths.
Malelu said they are going to produce another batch because “the demand of the mobile phones is going to be determined by how many people we are going to hire”.

He said they have already opened a warehouse where they will be launching these phones.
They are working with different people in Asia to make sure that the company is a success.
He said they believe that their products will hit the market before December this year.

He said the prices and other details will be revealed during the launch.
Another partner, Palesa Posholi, said they have joined Diamond Stone in the venture because they see this as a good business opportunity and believe it is going to be successful.
