MASERU – SPECIAL clients deserve special treatment. That was the message Standard Lesotho Bank conveyed to its elite clients as it launched a private banking last Thursday. The private banking is for clients who have at least M36 000 in their accounts.
Private banking is provided to high net worth individuals with high levels of income. It is a customer service rendered on a more personal basis than in mass-market retail banking with dedicated bank advisers.
It is a more exclusive division of wealth management. Speaking at the launch, Standard Lesotho Bank’s Head of Personal and Business Banking, Selloane Tsike, said the bank hard to gather the views of its customers before deciding to introduce private banking.
Tsike said the customers said they wanted to see their bank having improved technology hence “the bank has come about with the innovative technology”.
“We are who we are because of you, so we cannot in any way ignore any subject matter you make to us,” Tsike said.
“Instead we will try by all means to drive African growth with you,” she said.
“So this is the beginning of the journey.”
Tsike said the bank takes the views of its customers seriously and it thrives on putting the customers first.
“We had to make so many changes that you requested us to make, because banking is about you and how you want it to be,” Tsike said.
“We thank you for being part of this family, we also thank you for your support, you are contributing so much to the improvement of the economy because out of your money we are able to pay tax,” she added.
Standard Lesotho Bank Head of Private Banking, Lucy Mohapi, said the voice of the customers comes first.
“Two years back we conducted a survey whereby we wanted the clients to tell us what changes they wanted from the bank,” Mohapi said.
“So now we have advanced technology, cross-border transaction, we also offer motor vehicle insurance, house and household insurance, we finance houses that are under protection,” she added.
“The other thing is that we have the ATM services throughout the whole country and real time cash deposit ATMs whereby you can deposit money at the ATM,” she said. “Even borrowing money can be done through the phones, yours is to come and sign for that and get your money,” she said.
Speaking of behalf of Standard Lesotho Bank CEO, Mpho Vumbukani, a private banking senior official Mokhejane ’Moleli said the intention of Private Banking is to bring to clients services that are satisfying and up to standard as they are needed.
“We will respond to you as our customers because we have agreed to satisfy you,” ’Moleli said.
“A customer is very important because we depend on them. They are not the outsiders but our helpers,” he said.
“You never left us when we had some challenges of not satisfying you, but you stood with us in such bad moments,” he said.
“So we thank you for that and we say again, let’s drive African growth,” ’Moleli said.
