QACHA’S NEK – A 35-year-old man allegedly stormed into a Qacha’s Nek bar and stabbed his lover to death last Tuesday.

Tumisang Sepepane briefly appeared before Magistrate ’Mampho Mokoena in Qacha’s Nek this week charged with the murder of ’Maseabata Ramakeoane.

The crown alleged that Ramakeoane was having a meal with Maroba Maroba who owns the bar when Sepepane came in and started a fight.

Maroba said Ramakeoane had been at the bar since around 10am.

“In the afternoon I decided to eat and she said she was also hungry, so we shared the food with her,” Maroba said.

Sepepane, he said, entered the bar and asked why Maroba was eating with Ramakeoane and whether he knew who she was.

He said Sepepane beat Ramakeoane while asking her why she was not answering his calls.

When Maroba tried intervening, Sepepane allegedly beat him too, only stopping when other patrons separated them.

He said Sepepane left and later came back with a knife which he used to stab Ramakeoane to death.

“She was then stabbed four times, two on the chest and the other two at the back,” he said.

Ramakeoane was rushed to Machabeng Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

The village chief of Ha-Ramatšeliso, ’Makatleho Ramatšeliso, confirmed the incident.
