MASERU – STANDARD Lesotho Bank hosted a car and home exhibition at Maseru Mall last Saturday.
The bank said they wanted to engage their clients in a non-formal setting and give them a chance to ask and comment on the services they provide. ’Makhotso Motsamai, one of the people who attended the expo, said the event had been very productive.  “I came here with a lot of questions and they have all been answered. The gentleman from Standard Lesotho Bank was very knowledgeable. I feel satisfied and ready to make my decision,” Motsamai said.  “I only wish that this event can be a collaboration of all these commercial banks so that at the end of the day one can be aware of products available and be able to make an informed decision.”

On the other hand ’Mateboho Makhothu, who also attended the event, said she was still not able to make a decision after consulting with relevant stakeholders.  “I thought that they would not be so formal, though this would serve as a platform to get all information but it seems like they were in a hurry,” Mokhothu said.  “They were too brief. I thought when I go back home I would be able to tell my husband and be able to make an informed decision,” she said.  Mokhothu said she still has not been able to make a decision on what she requires.

Retšelisehile Mosoeu, a sales agent at Sigma Construction, said he was happy with the questions and comments clients and potential clients were making.  “More and more people are becoming interested in our projects. For instance, we have a project in Masowe which has the capacity to house 30 houses. So far 20 have been sold and 10 we have issued out quotations and it will depend on who approaches the bank first,” Mosoeu said.  “We will use the first come first served principle,” he said.

Mosoeu added that although property is expensive banks with their customized products have made it easier for Basotho to buy property.  ’Makeletso Liphoto of Maseru Toyota said they were happy to be at the show. “Basotho have been supporting us a lot and coming here means that they will be able to interact with us and get more information on any topic concerning Maseru Toyota,” Liphoto said.

She said more and more people are approaching the company to enquire about the services they offer. Manyathela Kheleli, Standard Lesotho Bank’s Marketing Manager, said they were happy with the turnout.  “It has lived to our expectations and it is good to see that transactions are already taking place, while some will be carried out when we go back,” Kheleli said.
The bank had brought property agents and car dealers both local and from South Africa enabling everyone with interest to take part and ask whatever they wanted to ask.
