Sundawana to sign 4 Ghanaian players

Sundawana mean business. After finishing fourth in the Vodacom Premier League this past season, four Ghanaian players are expected to touch down next week to join the ambitious Butha-Buthe outfit.

The development was confirmed by the club’s general manager Mapena Tloaelo yesterday.

The players are striker Norman Kumatse, midfielder Ernest Antwi and defenders Emmanuel Kudiabor and Abekah Frederick.

Tloaelo hailed the Ghanaian quartet and said they would be perfect additions to Sundawana’s squad.

“I am still sorting out their visas and permits before they enter the country, I can’t be sure of the exact time they will arrive but hopefully by next week,” Tloaelo told thepost. “Ghana has a lot of talent. There is talent even here at home, however, players that come from outside (Lesotho) are good and they are hard-workers.”

‘Tse Bo Yellow’ already have two Ghanaian players on their books meaning the new arrivals should feel at home. Tloaelo said Sundawana are strengthening their squad for next season in particular their defence because it might lose two players.

He did not disclose the defenders who could leave but Lesotho international Motlomelo Mkhwanazi is rumoured to be on his way to Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) with Bantu, Matlama and Lioli also thought to be sniffing for his services.

Tloaelo said Sundawana are also looking at completing the permanent signings of prospects Sello Koetle and Paballo Mafeka from second division outfit Qalo. The duo impressed during their loan spell at Sundawana this past season helping the club finish fourth in the Vodacom Premier League.

“We are going to meet with Qalo over two players who were on loan to us. We want to keep them, we are very impressed. I think I will be able to give something concrete regarding the players after the meeting with Qalo,” he said.

Sundawana also have to appoint a new head coach following the departure of Bob Mafoso who was unveiled as the assistant to new Bantu boss James Madidilane on Monday.

Mafoso is believed to have resigned as Sundawana coach last Friday evening.

Tloaelo said the Butha-Buthe club is only looking at local candidates to take over and revealed Hopolang “Freeze” Ntene could be on his way back to the club as he has familiarity with the setup at Sundawana. Ntene took charge of ‘Tse Bo Yellow’ last February but only lasted seven months in the job before he was replaced by Mafoso.

Sundawana will regroup next week to prepare for the 2016/17 season as well as the Alliance Winter Challenge at the end of July.
